Plant / Product Features:N.Z. native climber with large leathery glossy green leaves. In early spring large clusters of small star-shaped fragrant white flowers are produced followed in autumn by fluffy seed heads. Prefers a well-drained humus-rich soil. Does best with ample summer water supply. Must have shaded roots so mulch or plant the root zone. Prune back adjacent plants in humid areas to avoid disease problems such as rust and powdery mildew. Prone to phytophthora in waterlogged soils. Protect young plants from slugs and snails. Trim after flowering to control size.
Landscaping Uses:Plant on the south side of a tree or large shrub so it can climb through and create a spectacular sight in spring when in flower. Not vigorous enough to smother trees.
